Izzy Swimming and Park

Izzy is so much fun these days! I absolutely love her so much and love being a mom. She started crawling about a week ago and she gets into everything. She pulls herself up on her own too. She loves the independence and freedom. However, this also means she falls a lot more often, which has already resulted in a bruise on her cheek! We go to the park a few times per week in the morning and she swims a couple times per week. We are loving the summer!

Mike's sister, Derdle, came to visit for a few days. We had a great time with her in town. We can't wait until she moves out here for the fall.
Izzy LOVES swimming. This is by far her most favorite activity. We go to the pool near our house sometimes, but we also bought Izzy a pool for the backyard. I grew up with a pool my whole life and have always loved the water and enjoyed swimming. I want Izzy to not fear water and be comfortable in the water. So I try to get her in the water as often as possible.
And while she swims, I try to get a tan!

She does have a swimsuit (SIZE 2 T!) but Mike decided to let her swim in her diaper. I can't get enough of this girl!!

My dad flew in for July 4th and we went to Stadium of Fire. Carrie Underwood was amazing. Mike and I have gone for the past five years and this was the best one yet! We had a fun weekend with my dad going to the Freedom Festival, Scouts' breakfast, swimming, Sundance, and the parade.

On Wednesday July 7, Mike was sworn in as a US citizen. It is quite the process to become a citizen. He has had many interviews, lots of paperwork, and thousands of dollars. I was really excited for the ceremony and it exceeded my expectations. Lots of the immigrants stood up and talked about what it meant to be free. I take so many things for granted and that is one of them. It was such a touching experience!

Mikes bday and new bikes!

Tuesday was Mike's birthday so I put Izzy in her daddy loves me onesie. She was trying to give a little wave. This is a full body shot so you can see the rolls!

So for Mike's birthday I took him out to Chef's Table. I absolutely love that place. Best food in Provo, no comparison. Then we came back to our house and had a few friends over for Magleby's chocolate cake and an ice cream cake made by Dana.

Mike and I have been looking at bikes for weeks. We finally made our purchase at Taylor Bikes on Friday. We got Izzy a trailer. Unfortunately she does not like the trailer, yet. I think she isn't big enough for it. Every time Mike hit bumps she will slouch down in her seat. By the time we got back from the ride she had tears streaming down her face. Maybe we will try it again when she is a little bigger.

Texas Trip

We flew to Texas for my little sister, Kathryn's graduation. She is the last one to graduate-I can't believe. We had a great time in Bay City; we ate at all my favorite places-Shipley's doughnuts, Victorias's Mexican restaurant, and A&A bbq. My grandparents were there, which was a lot of fun.

After the ceremony we headed to Austin. My dad rented a lake house on Lake Austin. Suzette and Jon brought their boat and my dad brought his jet skis. My cousins, Keith and Amber, came with their families. We had so much fun. We spent the days laying out, swimming, surfing, wake boarding, fishing, eating, and eating some more. Izzy swam for the first time at my parent's house and then again at the lake house. She loved it! Mike said it was his best trip to Texas yet and I must agree!

I just got up and was trying to figure out how to get in the wake and drop the rope, which I eventually did! So fun!!

We had so much fun we will probably head to Austin in August again after Celeste's wedding!

My friend, Carrie, was in town visiting from Maryland so Mike and I went out to dinner with her, Carrie's husband, and their cute son, Brecken. He is just 6 weeks younger than Izzy.

But she quickly gave in and held his hand (this was done on their own); so cute!! She couldn't take her eyes off him....
until he turned to look at her; she had to play hard to get again!!

This was Izzy's first experience with a doll. She totally body slammed the poor doll. I guess she isn't ready for a baby sister.
I'm not sure where she learned to body slam. I need to talk to her daddy and Uncle G.

6 month stats:

weight-20 pounds; 95%, which is a decrease from 98% at her 4 month appt

height-27.5 inches; 86%, which is a decrease from 97% at her 4 month appt

head-18 inches; 99%, which is an increase from 94% at her month appt

The Doctor pointed out that only 1% of the population has a larger head than her. I guess her brain is growing! I doubt there are many babies who have bigger cheeks than her too!!

update

So life has been busy, crazy, hectic, and fun! Louise and Richard came out for Catherine and Blake's graduation. It was great to have family around. Catherine and her family and Christina have all moved to DC for the summer. It was so great to have Cat living so close. I am so blessed that she watched Izzy this past year. I know Izzy enjoyed spending time with Cat, playing peek and boo with Benson, and having Abi suck on her hand. I will always be so grateful for Cat. This summer Guillaume is living with us and watching Izzy. It is great to still have family around. We look forward to the fall when Christina will be back and my sister Kathryn will be at BYU. I need to download the pictures from the camera, so this is all I have for now.

My mom came in for one day to meet Celeste and drive with her to New York. Celeste has moved to New York to do an internship with Goldman Sachs. We miss having her around!

Visit and pics

My mother came to visit this past weekend. We had a blast going out to eat, shopping, relaxing, and then shopping some more! I love when my mom comes to visit. She is such a great example to me and has such a sweet spirit. Unfortunately, we did not take any pictures (I don't know what I was thinking). I do have some pictures of Izzy with her cousin Abi, who is only 3 months younger than her, and her cousin Benson. If you are wondering how old Izzy is, she is only 5 months old. I know her looks can be deceiving. We went for her check-up on Friday and she is 18 pounds and 27 inches long, which is the 98% for both. The Doctor said it is good to have big babies, but I don't we might send her to the Biggest Looser!!!! ( hahaha that was Mike's clever joke). I'm actually teaching Mike how to update the Blog so if anything CRAZY appears on here you know exactly who is responsible. Yours truly, Penny !!!
