Alumni Weekend 2013

Every year in September is the Annual BYU baseball Alumni weekend.  I always look forward to this weekend.  Mike's old teammates get together and golf, BBQ, play baseball, and have a lot of fun.  There are always a few players who stay at our home with their wives.  I love catching up with them and just hanging out.  They are some awesome ladies!

Izzy loved trying to hold the babies at the game.

Each year the alumni typically play the current BYU team.  This year there were so many alumni that they played each other.  Mike even got to wear his old number, 30.

His arm even allowed him to pitch.

After the game the kids ran around the field and we ate pizza.

That night we went to the University of Utah vs BYU game, if only it had a different outcome.

Papi was here for the weekend and he gave Izzy an early birthday present.

A horse clock; she couldn't be happier.  It even makes horse noises on the hour.

She also received this gorgeous Cinderella dress.

She loves twirling in it.
We had such a fun weekend with friends and family.  Can't wait til next year.

10 months

Cambry is 10 months, I can't believe how close she is to one year.  She continues to bring us so much joy and happiness.  Izzy has really started interacting with her quite a bit.  She loves to drag Cambry around the house, have Cambry ride on her back like a horse, and carry Cambry around (which Mommy doesn't like).

Sleeping: She is usually a great sleeper.  She goes to bed around 7:30 or 8 and gets up between 7 and 7:30.  She is teething so some nights she cries out and I give her a binkie and she goes back to bed.

Eating: She Loves to eat.  She doesn't really want baby food anymore.  She prefers things she can eat herself-cheese, bananas, zucchini, crackers, pretzels, really anything she can feed herself she wants.  She loves to drink out a sippy cup.  If someone else is eating or drinking she screams and reaches for it. She knows what she wants, that's for sure.

Accomplishments:  She is a chatter. She says, "Mama, Dada, and Baba" (for bottle).  She started clapping and she stands up and lets go of things for a few seconds. She has one tooth on the bottom left. I love watching her grow and learn.

This is what she really thinks of bows.

Vegas

Friday morning we went to Ihop for breakfast after I got back from the gym.

I have the best friends ever.  They made this cute sign and put it in my front yard.

Mike surprised me and we flew to Vegas for my 30th birthday.  He told me we were staying the night in Salt Lake, but as we were driving up there he said we were actually going to the airport and flying to Vegas!! We got in Friday night, ate dinner at a buffet (pretty sure I consumed my weekly calorie intake in one sitting) and then went to Cirque du Soleil Zarkana.  It was an acrobatic show and really fun to watch.  Then we played a little blackjack and Texas Hold 'em.

Proof that I ate mac and cheese at the buffet.  My dad always teases me about how much I love mac and cheese.

It was a fun show

Oh the slots.  We had time to kill before the show started so I put $3 in the slots for fun.  I ended with $70.  Not a bad start to a fun night.

Driving back to our hotel.

We got upgraded to a suite.  It was a really nice room.

Saturday morning we ate at a buffet again, I know I don't know what I was thinking, so much food.  Then we did some shopping and flew home.  It was a quick trip, but it was so fun to get away and be together.  Thanks to Derdle and Danny for watching the kids!

So long 20's

I can't believe my 20's are over.  I remember when I used to think 30 was old, but I still think of myself as young.  I think 30's are the new 20's.  Here is a summary of what happen in my 20's:
-Got married (when I was 20; I know so young).
-Learned to snowboard.
-Finished my bachelors (psychology) and masters degree (social work).
-Bought three homes.
-Moved 4 times (our first apartment, Rhode Island, our home in Provo, and now our current home)
-Had 2 beautiful baby girls.
-Traveled LOTS (Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Canada, Texas, DC, Florida, Arizona, Rhode Island, NYC, Washington, Montana, Colorado, California, Nevada, Arkansas, Nebraska, really too many states to list).
-Bought a boat and learned to wake surf--my new favorite thing to do!
-Earned my LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
-Worked at a lock down residential treatment center with teenage girls. Lots of interesting experiences there!
-My brother passed away.  Worst day of my life....I would like to believe I am a stronger person today.
-Bought 7 cars (Scion TC, Yukon, BMW 330, GMC Sierra Denali, Nissan Murano, Lexus GX470, Ford F-150)
-Started crossfit- I was barely still in my 20's. My new favorite obsession.
-Had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies. Now I'm just type 2 diabetic...so I started healthy eating.
So I'm started the pictures when I was 18. I always hated looking so young.  Just in the past few years did people stop asking for an 18 year old ID!
20 years old
Hawaii Cruise (23 years old)
Graduating with my masters (24 years old)
Alaska cruise (24 years old)

Parenthood begins (26 years old)

Best summer ever! We boated every Saturday and played Texas Hold 'em every Friday night. (27 years old).
My baby sister's graduation (27 years old)

Disney World (28 years old)
Family of 4 (29 years old)
Last year in my 20's

That's it, I'm 30! Can't wait to see what my 30's bring.

BYU vs UT game

My parents, Dennis, and Jon came in town for the BYU vs UT football game.  I love when family comes to visit.

About a week before they came Cambry started crawling up the stairs.  She keeps me on my toes.

About an hour before they got here a guy who is working on putting an AC in upstairs fell through the attic.  Awesome...Not!  Luckily he landed on the bed.  Let's just say Friday was not a good morning.

Friday afternoon my dad went to get a massage and the girls headed to the outlets.  Izzy was so stinking cute.  I think I have a shopper on my hands.  She wanted every Coach purse imaginable.

In clothing stores she would take cloths, scarves, jewelry, etc to try on and then come out and model for us.

Saturday was the big game as well as a huge downpour.  Let's just say I'm glad I was shopping and not at the game.  Luckily Mike had tent passes before the game so they hung out under the tent and ate while it was raining.  Seriously I have never seen so much rain in Utah, the streets were flooding.  And best of all, BYU beat UT.  I didn't think that was possible.

Sunday we went to church and took pictures.

The whole gang, minus Jon who already left and Dennis the photographer.

Kat and Izzy having fun.

Since my birthday is only a week ago we celebrate with my family.

My dad wrapped his present in a trashbag...Gotta love him.

They got carrot cake and all.

Dennis with Cambry

Izzy insisted on having Tux in the picture.
We had such a great time, can't wait til everyone is here for Christmas!!!

On Monday I made bread with my little helper. She is so cute.  I must admit this was my best bread yet.  When I do all wheat flour, it's too heavy, but I can't eat white flour so I did half and half; it was awesome.

Izzy loves to play with Cambry.  They are so cute.  Only problem is Izzy will go in Cambry's room while she is napping.  She did it 2 days in a row and I got mad.  Then I felt bad for getting mad when she only wants to have fun with her sister.  Now she knows only go in when Cambry wakes up and they can play in the crib for a little bit.  Nap time is precious!

Izzy starts preschool

Izzy started a 3 year old preschool class at Bear Hollow.  She is also in the class with a few of her friends so she was super excited.
She did not want to take pictures so this is the best it was.

Dropping her off on her first day.

She was happy to see her friends there.

Izzy and her cute friend Ellie.
It is so fun to watch her grow and learn.  Every night before she goes to bed she wants to know what we are doing the next day.  She always says, "We will go the gym day care and then what?" (She knows her Mommy's gym routine too well).  Between preschool, music, gymnastics, and horse lessons she keeps me busy.  She loves to have play dates too!  If she doesn't have a friend over or go to a friend's house then the day's not complete.  She is a social butterfly. Love her!
