Izzy's 3rd Birthday Party

We picked Izzy's cake up on Friday night and she said, "Mommy, This is the best cake in the whole world!" This morning while I was still laying in bed I heard her say, "Mike, Penny (yes we are on a first name basis at times) come get me." I thought this was weird because she usually comes into our room when she wakes up.  She kept repeating it (and Mike was at the gym) so I got up and found her on the counter with the cover off the cake.  She kept saying how pretty the horse was.  Fortunately she had not stuck her finger in it for a taste.

She's ready for the party!

Family shot

Kids LOVE balloons! It's fun to watch them play with them.

They colored horse pictures and then made fruit loop necklaces.

Say Cheese! I'm surprised how many are actually looking at the camera.

More dancing!

Izzy's favorite part.  A friend brought their horse over and the kids all got to ride.  Izzy was even trotting in the backyard.  Seriously she could do this all day long.

Cake and ice cream

Izzy's little friends.  She is so lucky to have so many friends her age.  The boys outnumber the girls though, I'm sure she will appreciate that when she is in high school!!  Here are their names (for my memory's sake when I look back 5 years from now) Lorenzo, Max, Owen, Grace, Izzy, Van, Dylan, Gwen, Drew. Bottom: Riley, Ellie, Dylan

Fun times on the trampoline.  Luckily no one got hurt!

Present Time!

She is already smiling because she knows it is a horse!

Horse back pack

Some more of her gifts! We had a great morning; it was a fun, but crazy party!  Eleven three year olds sure keeps you busy and we had lots of adults!  We will see how long her horse obsession lasts.  Hopefully it ends before she starts asking for a real horse!!

So you know you're a first time mom when you blog about your daughter's new bedroom.  But seriously I was stressing myself out about Izzy's new room.  I knew what I wanted and I wanted it to be just perfect for her.  Also, I wanted to move her out of her old room in plenty of time so she didn't feel like the baby was kicking her out. I am pleased with how it all turned out and Izzy loves it.

I adore these curtains.  The picture doesn't really do it justice, but they are adorable.  I like them so much I bought white ones for the baby's room and they are black out, which is great!  We found them at Pottery Barn Kids.  I had to drag Mike to the store with me, then when we left he was saying how much he liked that store.  He liked it so much he initiated the idea of going back a few weeks later to get a few more things, that's how we ended up with the baby curtains.  I was going to use the same bedding for the baby that Izzy had, but one more trip to Pottery Barn Kids and I might be leaving with new bedding.

You can't really tell, but these are pink and white horse sheets.  I found the bedding set on line.

The comforter and pillows.  I know the lighting is terrible, but I didn't want to go back upstairs and take more pics.  I know that sounds lazy, but I am 31 weeks pregnant and I was at the animal farm all morning.

Nightstand and lamp.  I LOVE the lamp, another Pottery Barn Kids purchase.  I love that store!

Dresser with horses.  Seriously Izzy loves her horses.  Those two are named Sandy and Lucky.  She rode a brown horse named Lucky in Montana and there is a white horse at the animal farm that she calls Sandy.  I know very original with the names.  I am glad the room is done and Izzy loves it!! One more thing I can cross off my list!

My parents came to visit for General Conference weekend; it was so fun to have them here.
On Thursday we drove to Park City via the Alpine Loop.  It was gorgeous!

Mike, my Dad, and my cousin, Darin, rode the Alpine slide, the roller coaster, and the zip line.  Izzy wanted to go so bad.  I told her she could go when she was bigger.  About 20 minutes later she said, "Mom look at me, I'm bigger!  Now can I ride the slide?"  She is too funny.  She loves to be adventurous.

On Friday they went to the Provo Beach Resort while I went to a doctors appointment.  They bought Izzy an unlimited pass.  I'm pretty sure she rode the carousel 25 times; she also did bowling and played in the playground.  My dad loves to be a little kid!

They also ate lots of ice cream! Man how times have changed.  I remember as a kid I would get $1 worth of tokens, maybe $2 and ice cream was a rare treat.  Izzy is one lucky grandchild! Papa loves to spoil her and she LOVES it! She keeps talking about when he comes back she will go ride the pink horse and eat pink ice cream!

Izzy and Kathryn playing.

Saturday morning we went to General Conference.  It was awesome to be in the conference center when the announcement regarding the age of missionaries was changed.  There was a very sweet spirit there.

Saturday afternoon we went to the animal farm, which is Izzy's favorite place!

Sunday morning she opened her birthday presents.  She got some new clothes, including a cowgirl skirt; she loves to wear her boots with it.

Opening more presents!

She loves the golf set! Her and Daddy play lots of golf in the backyard now!  We had a great weekend and can't wait for them to come back for Thanksgiving!

Alumni Weekend

This past weekend was the BYU baseball alumni weekend.  I always look forward to this weekend because Mike's old teammates fly in with their wives.  I am really good friends with a couple of wives, so it is fun to hang out.  Plus, the boys act like they are in college again, so it can be quite entertaining.
I love Katie so much!! We were freshmen neighbors in the dorms.  We started dating Mike and Ranger (her husband) around the same time.  They were also roommates so we had lots of double dates, movie dates, and game nights together.  After college they moved to Cali so I always look forward to anytime I get to see Katie.  She is such a great friend!  And you get to see a 30 week belly shot; I told Mike to take the picture waist up, but he did not listen!
On Friday afternoon, after the golf tournament, there was dinner at the baseball field.  Izzy randomly met this girl and spent the whole evening running around with her.

Dylan joined in the fun.
The guys standing around reminiscing the good old days.

After the dinner we went to the football game.  Our seats were the top row of the stadium, quite a hike for a 30 week pregnant woman.

On Saturday they had an alumni baseball game against the current BYU team.  Then some of the guys came over for a game of wiffle ball in the backyard.

They had a great time!

Saturday also happened to be Elizabeth's birthday.  We had a big BBQ and cake and ice cream. It was a fun weekend that always ends too early!  Can't wait for next year!

Frustrated

*You might get bored reading this, but I'm writing it so I remember :)

I feel frustrated....You know when you do everything you are supposed to do and things are still not working out the way they should. That's been me.  I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 25 weeks.  I was not surprised because I had it with Izzy.  Plus, I knew I had it well before 25 weeks because anytime I ate sweets, I felt sick.  So I had already started following the gestational diabetes diet.    Well this time hasn't been so easy as with Izzy.  If I eat the recommended carbs then my sugars go too high and I feel terrible.  So I started eating less carbs and more protein, my sugar levels were still high, but not as bad.
I met with the dr last Monday and I have ketones and protein in my urine which is an indicator that your body is in starvation mode.  So he said I need to eat more carbs and start on a medicine to help bring my sugar levels down.  The medicine wasn't really working so he increased it, still not working.  This past Monday he did an ultrasound because he was concerned about the size of the baby.  Good news-the baby is measuring 5 days big!  He is still concerned about the weight gain.  I am 30 weeks and have only gained 9 pounds, and 3 of those pounds are the baby.  Plus my sugars are still high.  So  he increased the medicine again.  My numbers seem to be a little better.  I go back in on Friday.  He thinks I will have to go on insulin soon.  That would not be fun-shots everytime I eat.  But at least there is an end in sight.  I will be induced by 39 weeks at the latest so at this point I only have 9 weeks left.  I can do anything for 9 weeks, right?!  Really I just want to feel normal.  When your blood sugar goes up to 200 after breakfast and down to 60 before lunch, you just don't feel good.  So I'm hoping something will work soon so I can feel ok....
