Costa Rica

Our trip started Monday night.  A snow storm came into Provo about one hour before we left.  Needless to say, the roads sucked so we had an adventurous drive to the airport.  We sat on the runway for an hour while they deiced the plane, I didn't care because I was passed out.  We got to Atlanta around 730am, had a 3 hour layover and then headed to San Jose.  I slept that flight too, it was great. We went through customs and then sent our husbands to get our rental cars while we exchanged some money.  When we got out of the airport it was pure chaos and some random men tried to get us in their van, but I told them not without our husbands.  Luckily we found them and off to Jaco we headed.  We made a few wrong turns (roads are not marked around here), but we found this little place to eat along the way. 

I am smiling because this is before I got my food.  It took a while because the chicken running around in the yard and to be caught so Jennie's meal could be cooked.  

They brought this out to eat while we waited for our food.  I didn't try it, but Mike, Chris, and Jen did. Mike said it was the hottest thing he has ever eaten.  

We met Suzette and Jon at the Maxi Bodega, bought some groceries and headed to the house.  Then we headed to this nice little joint in Hermosa and hit up their Taco Tuesday.  Much better than the lunch meal; I am not into authentic food.

Wednesday we hit the beach in the morning.  Us girls worked on our tans (we were in desperate need of UV rays), while our husbands worked on their surfing skills (they were also in need of some skills).

After we headed to the place everyone told us had the most beautiful sunset.  We were told by the locals we would had no trouble getting in because we were "Gringos." They were right. 

Midway Ice Castles

I have been wanting to get out and enjoy activities in Utah.  I feel like we don't take advantage of the beauty we are surrounded with.  Part of the problem is that I don't know where to go or what to do.  So when I saw this on a friend's facebook, I knew we had to go.  It is in Midway and the man who builds the castles uses the money for his children's missions and humanitarian funds.  I have no idea how he did it, but they were absolutely beautiful.  

 We brought Izzy's stroller, but decided she would prefer walking around.  She loved it!

We had a great day!  Hopefully we will find more activities/places to visit soon.

All about Izzy

It is amazing how quickly time goes by.  We haven't done anything too exciting, but here are some pictures of Little Izzy.....

 Every morning, Mike gets up, changes Izzy's diaper, and gives her a bottle.  Usually she leaks through her diaper so he takes off her pjs and lets her run around in her diaper for a while.  She always grabs her belly when you take her clothes off.  If anyone has any tricks for keeping her dry during the night, I would love to hear them.

 She loves to climb onto the glider and has figured out a way to do it herself.  She pulls out the black part of the ottoman, climbs onto it, and then up onto the glider.  Quite clever!

 Someone left their sunglasses laying around so of course Izzy wanted to try them on.  She loves to copy what everyone else is doing.

 About to blow a kiss or maybe push the glasses up, who knows?!

 There's the kiss!  She loves those.  Gotta get them out of her system, before she is a teenager.

 We have had a playground in our backyard the whole 6 years we have lived here.  Finally, it is getting some use.  Izzy loves the slide and if I don't put her up fast enough she takes matter into her own hands.

 She saw me swinging in the big kid swing so she wanted to try it, of course.  She didn't like it too much.

 But she loves her little bear swing.

 Izzy loves laundry.  She loves to pull dirty laundry out of the basket, she loves to put clothes around her neck, and she loves to pull clothes out of her drawer.  So this morning when I put all of her clean clothes on our bed. She was in heaven.

 Daddy had fun throwing her around and holding her upside down.  She loved it!!

She loved burying herself in all the clothes and then popping out and saying BOO!!  She is so cute and brings so much joy into our lives!!

update

So I don't have any cool pictures to post, but we have been having a great 2011.  Mike and I went snowboarding today for the second time this month.  We are so fortunate to have family who is so willing to watch Izzy.  I didn't go snowboarding at all last winter because Izzy was just born; I forgot how much I enjoy it.  I am finally able to go toe to heel side easily and I'm loving it.
We purchased our Costa Rica tickets.  I am very excited for a couples trip; this will be our first long trip without Izzy.  I must admit I do have some anxiety.  I have never been away from Izzy for that long, so I don't know how I will handle it.  I'm sure I will miss her like crazy! Fortunately, Mike's mom is coming out to take care of her so I know she will be in good hands.  And we will make it up to Izzy in April by taking her to Disney World!!

Christmas morning 2010

We spent Christmas in DC with the Bergeron Family.  On Christmas Eve, everyone opened their presents from Secret Santa and the grandkids opened their presents from Mami and Papi.  

Benson, Abi, and Izzy opening their present on Christmas Eve.  Abi and Izzy needed some help, but Benson knew exactly what was going on. 

 The 3 grandkids got matching pajamas from Mami and Papi, so they put them on Christmas Eve.

2009 Christmas.  I am trying to start a tradition and take a picture of Izzy each Christmas with her gifts in her Christmas pajamas.  She has changed so much in a year!

She needed some help getting started. 

 She loves books.  Luckily, we got some French books so she can start learning (along with Mommy).

Izzy got a bath toy from Uncle Matt and you can tell from her face that she loves it.

She loves to play with Mommy and Daddy's laptops so she got one of her own, which she loves.  But as you can tell opening presents wore her out and she is ready for bed. 

 Benson got a laptop too, but the funny thing was they kept switching and Benson would play with Izzy's and Izzy liked his more.

 My Mom found this super cute Christmas dress for Izzy to wear.  It's a little big so it might even fit next year!

 Christmas 2010.  I told Mike he should put on a matching shirt, but he thought his Marley's shirt was appropriate.  I should have told him to smile normally too!!  Not that he would have listened....

We had a great Christmas and look forward to 2011!!
