Izzy starts Kindergarten

I can't believe my baby is old enough for kindergarten.  She has gone to preschool for the past 2 years, but now suddenly she seems so old.  I have loved having her home with me and spending so much time with her and I'm sad to see her grow up and head off to school, but I also know she will love it and it will be great for her!  She goes to Learning Dynamics twice/week with Mrs. Covington for kindergarten enhancement and then Highland Elementary with Mrs. Beck five days/week for 3 hours.  I love Izzy so much and I'm so proud of her!!

Izzy's first year of swim team

This summer Izzy was part of the Swimmin' Seals swim team.  She had practice twice/week in the  morning from 8:30-9.  Mike took her to most of the practices, which was nice so I didn't have to haul the rest of the girls along, plus she really liked spending time with Daddy.  I wasn't sure how she would like swim team, but she loved it.  There were some mornings I had to wake her up and she never once complained about practice.  She is a little fish.

She participated in 3 of 4 meets (we were in Texas for one) and was awesome.  They gave ribbons for 1st-12th and she got ribbons for every event she was in every meet.  The 3 events she did each meet were: 25 free, 25 back, and 50 free.

By the end of the season, we were smart enough to get her a swim cap.  She looks like a pro now.  I love that she has something she enjoys so much.  At the end of the season you get a trophy based on your races for the summer and she got 7th for the 6 and under age group.

Izzy plays T-ball

Izzy played her first season of t-ball.  Mike got her all outfitted for her game-bag, bat, glove, and balls. It was pretty low key.  Each inning all of the players on the team got to bat.  No one played positions, everyone just lined up around the pitchers mound waiting for the ball.  Izzy would chase people down sometimes and tag them with her glove, even when she didn't have the ball, it was pretty funny.  She enjoyed playing ball with daddy in the backyard and I even went out and showed her my skills :)  I love that she is willing to try all sports, some of my favorite memories are from softball and it all started during my t-ball days on the Bullets.  When I asked her if she liked soccer or t-ball more, she said t-ball because there were more boys on the team!

Luckily for Cambry, Dylan has a little brother, Justin, who Cambry could play with during the games.  She calls him her boyfriend!!

It was a fun season and hopefully she wants to play again next year!

Horseback riding

On Friday our friend, Landon, texted me asking if we wanted to go horseback riding at his parent's ranch.  I was super excited because Izzy loves animals.  She has her "own horse" in the living room that is pretty big (bigger than dogs) and makes noises.  I couldn't wait to see how she would be around real horses and thought she would love every minute of it.

Izzy and Hurley, Landon's dog.  Hurley has spent many afternoons in our backyard at bbq's, so Izzy and Hurley are good friends.  If I could find a dog as well behaved as Hurley we would have one for sure!

Izzy was way more timid than I expected.  If I took her near a horse she would hold on to me really tight and whimper.

When I got on, I thought maybe Izzy would ride with me.  She wasn't too sure about it at first.

But then she started enjoying it.

By the end she was loving it!!

She wanted to lead the horses around.

If she was not riding she would start crying.  So Kathryn was kind enough to let Izzy ride with her.  It's funny how quickly she changed her mind about horses.

After horseback riding we went to a park and had a bbq.  It was a great day!!

Midway Ice Castles

I have been wanting to get out and enjoy activities in Utah.  I feel like we don't take advantage of the beauty we are surrounded with.  Part of the problem is that I don't know where to go or what to do.  So when I saw this on a friend's facebook, I knew we had to go.  It is in Midway and the man who builds the castles uses the money for his children's missions and humanitarian funds.  I have no idea how he did it, but they were absolutely beautiful.  

 We brought Izzy's stroller, but decided she would prefer walking around.  She loved it!
